Aviation Security & Risk Assessment course 27 Dec 2018

Dubai, UAE, 27 December 2018: Emirates Group Security recently hosted two batches (18 to 22 Nov 2018 & 23 to 27 Dec 2018 ) of 20 aviation professionals from the Nigerian presidential fleet for a five -day Aviation Security management and Risk Assessment course in Dubai. Organized by CAE and delivered by the Emirates Group Security Ground Training Unit, the specially tailored session – held at the Emirates Group Security HQ – is part of the attachment programme for the team in Dubai.

Speaking on behalf of the Nigerian delegation, Ebuka Peter Nwachukwu said, “In the past five days we have been provided with an excellent overview of the risk assessment context from a national and international perspective concerning the emerging threats against the civil aviation.”

The specially tailored supervisory course covered the following areas:

  • Threats to Civil Aviation (International, Regional and National Perspective)
  • AVSEC Legislation
  • Airport Security Technology
  • Aircraft, Cargo and mail security measures
  • Security Management System (SeMS) and Monitoring Activities
  • Human resource management from AVSEC perspective
  • Risk Assessment and ICAO Global risk context statement
  • Telephone bomb threat assessment based on DfT model

The participants received certificates from the Centre for Aviation and Security Studies (a department of Emirates Group Security) and Edith Cowan University of Western Australia.

Commenting on this inaugural programme, Dr Abdulla Al Hashimi, Divisional Senior Vice President Emirates Group and CEO of Transguard Group, said, “The training programme is among a few in world that is recognized and backed up by a university. It is our pleasure to extend this security training and education programme to the Nigerian Presidential fleet. We look forward to similar collaborations in the near future.”
