Emirates Group Security Graduation 22 Nov 2018

Dubai, UAE, 22 November 2018: Emirates Group Security held its Graduation Ceremony to confer Aviation Security Management and Ground handling Diplomas to the graduating class of 2018. The ceremony was held in the presence of Sir Tim Clark, President, Emirates Airline and Professor Steve Chapman, Vice Chancellor of Edith Cowan University, Australia along with other senior dignitaries from the Emirates Group, friends and families of the graduates in attendance.

192 graduates from over 50 nationalities graduated from Emirates Group Security’s Centre of Aviation and Security Studies (CASS). The graduating cohort included colleagues from the Emirates Group as well as external candidates. There were 145 students who graduated from the aviation security stream and 47 students who were awarded diplomas for ground handling.

His Highness (HH) Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group said: “With the growth of the aviation industry today, both in the UAE as well as globally, there is an increased demand for qualified and skilled talent. I’m confident that the students who are graduating today from Emirates Group Security’s aviation security and ground handling programme will play an important role in this field in the years to come.”

Dr Abdulla Al Hashimi, Divisional Senior Vice President, Emirates Group Security said: “2018 marks seventeen years since Emirates Group Security started offering courses in aviation security. Over the years we have had more than 1800 students who have graduated through our programmes and have gone on to successful careers in aviation. Our partnership with Edith Cowan University has allowed us to impart highly specialised skills to our graduates helping them adapt and respond to the needs of the aviation industry.”

Steve Chapman, Vice-Chancellor of Edith Cowan University said: “It is an absolute pleasure to be here at Emirates to celebrate another successful cohort of ECU Graduates. The quality of the long running partnership between Emirates and ECU is highlighted by the large cohort graduating today.”

CASS is the education arm of Emirates Group Security. Established in partnership with Edith Cowan University (ECU), Perth, Australia, CASS awards diplo-mas that confirm to Australian commonwealth university guidelines and are also recognised by the UAE.

General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). Graduates from CASS also have the option to earn internationally recognised credit points for future courses of study with Edith Cowan University.

The diploma programmes for aviation security and ground handling last 18 months. Students are taken through a range of subjects including aviation security, threat assessment & management and aviation logistics. In addition to the diploma programmes, Emirates Group Security offers a number of short term university-level accredited training programmes in aviation and general security for ground staff, aircrew and professionals from security and related industries.
