Hijack / Sabotage Programme

Emirates Aviation College, 2-4th April 2011

For the second year in succession Emirates Group Security ran this unique 3-day programme for Aviation Security professionals and internal staff. The workshop included a simulated Hijack exercise and a live explosives demonstration. The exercise culminated in the UAE Army Special Forces team storming the Boeing emergency evacuation simulator after a two-hour hijacking ordeal. The Dubai Police Explosives Security Dept expertly ran the explosives demonstration in the desert, using various types and quantities of high explosive. Security experts from around the world presented to industry-wide participants from 12 countries. All participants came to share their security expertise and to further strengthen their defences against any potential future threats.

Dr Abdulla Al Hashimi, Divisional Senior Vice President Group Security commented "Group Security is proud to be able to organise this event for the second year running. The state of the art facilities at Emirates and our extensive close relationship with the law enforcement agencies, allow the Aircrew Security Training team to put together these 3 days of comprehensive training. With the support of the various agencies and the backing of Edith Cowan University which recognises this program as part of the aviation security diploma that we jointly organise, we are building on last year's success and making this an annual event that will help to raise the aviation security barrier even higher in the Gulf region"

The programme was a carefully designed mix of theory and practice and included material on some of the most recent aviation security threats. Specialist guest presenters from CJ Consulting in Singapore, the Gendarmerie Nationale (GIGN) in France, Scotland Yard in the UK, the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) and Dubai Police helped to attract 3rd Party clientele and contributed to the success of the programme.
